MEAN CEILING

For Mean Ceiling, I photographed myself in changing seasonal landscapes all painstakingly arranged in my studio. In reality, my surroundings are fabricated; snow carried inside to cover me on the kitchen floor, flower petals gathered from the peony blossoms in my garden. In an investigation of control and idealization of both landscape and child’s play, I hoped to question our assumptions about the environment and our assertion over it, and to understand how we “endure” fun in it. Mean Ceiling was created between 2002 – 2004.
